U1000 1.0.0.14 firmware and battery usage
I've flattened my battery with the U1000 on the 1.0.0.13 firmware making me suspect that battery protection simply does not work.
After upgrading to 1.0.0.14, I've flattened my battery twice.
After the first time, I replaced my battery with an AGM model offering 773 CCA since it was probably time anyway (suspecting this may be part of the reason that battery protection wasn't working), but since then I've flattened the battery again.
I suspect that battery protection does not work, but the last two times I flattened the battery I could swear I turned the U1000 front+rear off before leaving my car long term in the garage (pandemic), so I suspect that with the new firmware, turning off the unit (holding the top button until the music plays) continues to draw power from the battery.
Do I actually have to disconnect the power cable from the U1000 when I want it to cease drawing battery power now?

Yes thinkware does have the battery draining issue... my suggestion will be if you are parking your vehicle and not touching it for few days then pull out the plugs on front that will stop your car battery from being drained. And i suggest u to get the thinkware battery pack as well
I am using the same with the battery pack for my U1000
I have pretty much verified that the software off switch does work and the U1000 does stop drawing power, but also that the voltage limiter doesn't work (since it managed to kill a brand new 60 AH AGM 880 CA 740 CCA battery in just a few days even though the limiter was configured to its highest setting.
Thinkware needs to fix their bloody software - I find not only voltage limiting to be ineffective but also their impact sensitivity settings are a joke.
I really regret upgrading to the U1000 - the front+rear 1440p/1080p camera system suffered from the same flaws, but at least their power draw was significantly smaller.
