No power using obd2 cable
Yesterday I received my u1000 front and rear camera system and was hoping to set it up today (6/10/21). I purchased 2 obd 2 cables - one for each of my vehicles. I own a 2017 Toyota Tundra and a 2018 Toyota Highlander. I tried each cable in each of my vehicles and there’s is no power from the obd connection to the dash cam. The obd connector initially lights up then nothing. The system runs great using the cigarette lighter connector, but bought this unit for the two key features - first, no hard wiring and second, the park mode feature. I am not going to hard wire the system and the external battery is very expensive. If I can’t get the obd cables to work I will have to return the unit and all the extras. Can you help? Thanks

Hi Frank! I'm really sorry to hear that! Could you please contact our Support Team at support@thinkware.com or +1-844-865-9273 with a copy of your receipt and/or order number, as we would like to proceed with exchanging the cables for you and troubleshoot this issue, ensuring that you get everything working!
I would like to know what is the solution and if your problem is solved with the new OBD cables Frank? Thanks.

any update on this?
Hi all
When I posted my obd power cables concern 3 months ago about, I was using the Thinkware obd cables. Since then, Thinkware sent me two new echomaster obd 2 cables and they seem to work fine in both my 2017 Toyota Tundra (with reg. key ignition ) and my 2018 Highlander (with push button ignition and the power stop/start feature when stop). The only issue I have with the new echomaster (not sure if it is an actual issue) is that on my 2018 Highlander, with the features mentioned above, during a recent long trip I did noticed that while driving and having my U1000 camera activated the camera went into/out of park mode numerous time (we drove for several hours). This was very annoying especially having the dash cam announce it every time it happened. I contacted Thinkware and was advised it wasn't a defect with the camera or the cables. They indicated that newer vehicles , especially with the engine stop/start feature, have a system in place that causes the vehicle's charging system to pause periodically prompting the cable/camera to go into park mode then return to continuous mode when the vehicle's charging system is reactivated . This logic seems reasonable for I could not duplicate this issue on my 2017 Tundra which does not have those features. Based on my conversation with the Thinkware representative, It is my understanding that the park mode engaging while driving will not effect the continuous/driving mode functions. They did send me a hard ware kit for the Highlander which I have not installed yet.
I have to admit Thinkware and their representatives have been amazing throughout this entire process.
Thanks Frank for sharing it with us in a well detailed way, really appreciated.
Sounds like the cables I received are the real problem. The only option I saw when ordering were electric/non-electric.
