U1000 Crying Baby Sound?!

Yan Kleyman
I’ve had a U1000 front and rear powered via OBDII in my Ford Raptor for 2 years. Amazing camera never had any issues. A few days ago I got in my truck and instead of hearing the usual “during parking mode…” I was prompted to format the memory card suddenly. It then advised it was restarting without me having done anything. Upon restart it played the regular announcement “continuous recording will now start..” and a few seconds later it emitted what sounded like a “screech” after which time the unit shut off completely and would not turn back on. I unplugged it from power. Gave it a few minutes and plugged it back in. Still nothing. I left it plugged in laying on my Passenger seat and 15 min later it suddenly turned back on. I connected via app and discovered that all settings had been reverted to factory. I went ahead and updated the firmware. Formatted the memory card. And restored all of my settings. However now the camera will no longer stay on for parking mode via obd port. Battery protection disabled as always. All settings like I always had. Nothing. And the camera continues to randomly turn off while driving with continuous recording activated. That crazy sound that it emits which sounds like my one month old baby continues to happen when I shut my truck off. Instead of it saying the entering Parking Mode message it screams and turns off completely.

Guys, are you sure you have installed the Thinkware Dash Cam correctly?

The dashcam must be permanently powered by the car battery.

When you turn off the car, the dashcam must still have power.

If your installer connected the dashcam's power cables incorrectly, i.e. not always powered on, the dashcam will make those screeching sounds.

To check if your dashcam is permanently powered, you can use a tester to check if the voltage is available even when the car is off.

If the power supply to the dashcam is not permanently connected then you must go back to your installer (electrician) and ask him to connect your Dashcam in a point where it is always powered.

In this way you can also successfully activate the parking mode and if you use the radar (purchasable as an accessory), the dashcam will only start recording if someone passes in front of the windshield and therefore you will save battery.

    Okay?
