Multiple U1000s, Multiple Vehicles

Robin Horn

I would like to get a couple of dash cams for me and my wife. We have two vehicles, but both drive each vehicle depending on the situation.

Does the U1000 work in that situation? I.e. Is the U1000 tied to a vehicle or to a user (or both)?

    Hello Robin,

Thank you for contacting Thinkware Customer Support. We'd be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

You are able to link both of the U1000 Dash Cams under the same account so you are able to access the Cloud, Files and Settings, with the same login information.

Thank you for that answer. I hadn't even thought about that aspect of the problem.

My primary concern is If we remove the main units (front cameras) from the cars at the end of the day to avoid theft, does it matter which car the unit gets used with? ie. does the main unit link to (I assume, wirelessly) only one rear camera?

Also, does the main unit link (via bluetooth?) to only one phone, or can either phone connect to either main unit?

    Hello Robin,

The Front U1000 can be paired with any U1000 Rear Camera by simply plugging this into the Rear Camera Cable. When switching the Front Units out it does not matter which Rear Camera it is paired with.

The Main Unit can be paired with the smartphone via WiFi or Hotspot when in the vehicle. One Smartphone can be paired directly with the U1000 when in the car. This can connect to multiple phones, however just 1 at a time.

The other smartphones connected to the same account will have access to the Cloud Features Menu at any time.

Thank you. It sounds like it will work just fine.
