ADAS Explanation

Dan Speers

I just read through the manual, and the “What is ADAS” FAQ and I still do not really understand what some of the settings really mean.

The vehicle type setting, how exactly does this setting impact the features of the camera?  What do you consider an SUV vs. a Truck?  I have a RAM 2500 and the camera is mounted at the top of the windshield, meaning it is probably a bit more than 6’ from the road surface.

What is the speed camera setting for?  What exactly does that do?

What is a mobile zone alert?

I know that the mounting instructions want the camera centered on the windshield but that is not practical with the wiper, high beam sensor cluster behind the mirror, so the only place it can go is just to the left of the cluster.  After mounting, wiring it all up and connecting to my hotspot I tried the live view feature and it shows me a cross hatch alignment.   The only thing I can actually adjust is the horizontal view, the vertical points left of center a bit.   How will this affect ADAS features?  Is there a way via software to convince the camera about what straight ahead really is?

So far I love the camera, but your documentation leaves a lot to be desired…

Hello Dan, thank you for reaching out!

The Vehicle Type will only affect the ADAS sensitivity. For your vehicle, we recommend setting the Vehicle Type to Truck. It is not a problem if the Dash Cam is mounted a bit to the left or to the right, and not perfectly at the center.

Speed Camera and Mobile Zone alerts will give you warnings for Red Light Cameras and Speed Cameras in your area. For example, as you approach an intersection with a Red Light Camera, the Dash Cam will announce "Red light camera in 200 meters.
