iVolt Xtra External Battery - How Does It Work?

I have a Q1000 dashcam installed in my car, and recently had a iVolt Xtra External Battery installed to extend how long it records while in parking mode. However, I noticed that now my dashcam does not turn on immediately when I turn on my car, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to turn on, usually when I’m already driving. Before the install of the external battery, my dashcam would turn on right away when I started my car.

Is this how the dashcam works when an iVolt Xtra External Battery is installed? I was under the assumption that the dashcam would still be powered by my car’s battery while in driving mode, but when in parking mode, it would use my car battery and the external battery.
