Unlike most Thinkware Dash Cams, the ARC model features a different way to connect to its built-in Wi-Fi to playback videos and alter the dash cam settings.
Disclaimer
Please be aware that the dash cam is not recording when connected via Wi-Fi.
- The Wi-Fi will time out and disconnect if inactive or the screen on your smartphone turns off.
- Ensure to disconnect from the dash cam's Wi-Fi before beginning to drive.
- The same instructions listed below are available on the app through an on-screen guide.
- THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK will require a minimum operating system version of iOS 15 and Android 9 or higher to continue receiving app updates and support.
How to Connect via Wi-Fi by Scanning the Barcode
1. Turn the vehicle's ignition on to begin the dash cam in its Continuous Recording Mode.
*Must be within the vehicle with the ignition on, to connect via Wi-Fi.
2. Open the Thinkware Dash Cam Link App on your smartphone.
Select Dash Cam Registration > Choose your Dash Cam Model (ARC)
3. After choosing your dash cam model from the list, the app will show an on-screen instruction on how to connect to your ARC dash cam. Start by pressing the Wi-Fi button on the dash cam's screen. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. After pressing the Wi-Fi button on the dash cam, an app download reminder will show. You can scan the barcode with your smartphone to download the app (if you don't have it yet) or skip the part by pressing the arrow on the top right corner.
5. Another reminder will pop up showing the connection/registration step that is needed to be done on the Thinkware Dashcam Link app (please see steps 2 & 3). Press the arrow on the top right corner to proceed.
6. Scan the on-screen barcode shown on the next page using the Thinkware Dashcam Link app to connect.
7. A pop-up message will appear asking to connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi network, click 'Join'
8. Wait until the app loads and you'll see a message that says 'Dash cam Connected'.
9. You are now connected to your ARC Dash cam via Wi-Fi.
How to Connect via Wi-Fi by Manual Wi-Fi Connection
1. Turn on the vehicle's ignition to begin the dash cam in its Continuous Recording Mode.
*Must be within the vehicle with the ignition on, to connect via Wi-Fi.
2. Open the Thinkware Dash Cam Link App on your smartphone.
Select Dash Cam Registration > Choose your Dash Cam Model (ARC)
3. Choose and press 'Activate Wi-Fi' on the app.
4. Press the Wi-Fi button on the dash cam.
5. After pressing the Wi-Fi button on the dash cam, an app download reminder will show. You can scan the barcode with your smartphone to download the app (if you don't have it yet) or skip the part by pressing the arrow on the top right corner.
6. Another reminder will pop up showing the connection/registration step that is needed to be done on the Thinkware Dashcam Link app (please see steps 2 & 3). Press the arrow on the top right corner to proceed.
7. Once you're in the Wi-Fi Connection QR Code page, press the Wi-Fi symbol on the top right corner to see the dash cam's Wi-Fi details.
8. Hit 'Next' on the app and follow the on-screen instructions on the following page.
9. Go to your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi network using the password shown on the dash cam's screen.
*If the Thinkware Wi-Fi disconnects or disappears immediately, please refer to Disabling Wi-Fi Assist.
*"No Internet Connection and Weak Security" is a normal message, please disregard it.
10. Go back to the app and wait until the app loads and you'll see a message that says 'Dash cam Connected'.
11. You are now connected to your ARC Dash cam via Wi-Fi.
