Prerequisite: Update the mobile app and your dash cam firmware using the method supported by your model. See How to update your dash cam’s firmware.
Note: Your smartphone must run iOS 15.0 or later, or Android 9.0 or later.
Keep your phone screen on while connected. Disconnect from the dash cam Wi-Fi before driving; Wi-Fi connection can interrupt recording on supported models.
Note: On models that pause recording during a Wi-Fi connection, the app may disconnect after you close it or leave it idle so recording can resume. This is normal.
Connecting via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
For models that support both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, pair through Bluetooth first. Then switch to Wi-Fi for Live View and recorded video playback.
First-time Bluetooth pairing
1. Turn on the vehicle ignition to start the dash cam in Continuous Recording Mode.
Note: Stay inside the vehicle with the ignition on while connecting.
2. Open the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app.
3. Tap [Dashcam Registration] and select your model.
4. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and tap [Next].
5. Hold the dash cam's Wi-Fi button for more than 3 seconds, until the LED blinks rapidly and a chime sounds.
6. Select the confirmation box in the app and tap [Connect to Bluetooth].
7. When your smartphone requests Bluetooth pairing, tap [Pair] or [Allow].
8. Wait for the loading screen to finish.
9. Check for the connection voice announcement and the app's main dashboard.
Switching to Wi-Fi for Live View and file playback
Note: On iOS and Android, recorded-file streaming playback requires firmware 1.01.05 or later on F200, or 1.00.02 or later on FA200. These are playback conditions, not firmware-update support requirements.
1. While connected by Bluetooth, tap [Live View] or a recorded video category on the main screen.
2. When the app says it is changing from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi, tap [Continue].
3. Tap [Join] or [Connect] when asked to join the dash cam's Wi-Fi network.
4. Once connected, use Live View or access recorded files for playback and download.
Reconnecting to the app
1. Turn on the vehicle ignition to power the dash cam.
2. Open the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app.
3. Allow the app to identify and reconnect to your dash cam. If it does not reconnect, tap [Connect to Dash Cam] at the top right.
Connecting via Wi-Fi only
For models that use Wi-Fi without Bluetooth, connect your smartphone directly to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network.
Caution: The dash cam does not record while connected by Wi-Fi. Disconnect from its Wi-Fi network before driving.
1. Turn on the vehicle ignition to start Continuous Recording Mode.
2. Open the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app.
3. Tap [Dashcam Registration] and select your model.
4. Press the dash cam's Wi-Fi button once.
The dash cam announces: "Connect to a Wi-Fi network whose name starts with Thinkware."
5. Open your smartphone's [Wi-Fi] settings.
6. Select the Thinkware_xx network, such as Thinkware_68.
7. Enter the default password 123456789 and tap [Join] or [Connect].
8. Confirm that Thinkware_xx is connected.
Note: "Internet May Not Be Available" or "Connected without Internet" is expected on this direct connection. Keep the Wi-Fi connection active.
9. Return to the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app.
10. Listen for "Connected to a Smartphone," then follow the app's initial setup prompts.
