Won't Power On

My Thinkware Dash Cam will not power on.

If your Thinkware Dash Cam is no longer powering on, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below.

If the Dash Cam is still not powering on, please contact our team at support@thinkware.com or 1-844-865-9273 so we can assist you further.

12V Car Charger

If the dash cam is no longer powering on when using the 12V Car Charger, most likely this is caused by the dash cam itself.

Follow the steps below to determine the cause:

 1. Check the Inline Fuse.

Check that in the 12V Car Charger Cable, the 1 inline fuse has not been blown.

*If this has been blown, please replace it with a 2AMP Fuse.

2.  Test with another Thinkware Power Cable.

Hardwiring Cable

If the dash cam is no longer powering on when using the Hardwiring Cable, most likely this is caused by loose ground.

Follow the steps below to determine the cause:

1. Ensure the Black Ground Cable has been securely attached.

*If not securely attached the dash cam will not power on.

2. Check the inline fuses in both the ACC and Constant Cables. 

*If fuses are blown, replace them with 2AMP Fuses.

3.  Test with another Power Cable such as a 12V Car Charger.

Thinkware OBD-II Power Cable

If the dash cam is no longer powering on when using the OBD-II Power Cable, most likely this is caused by no power at the OBD Port.

Follow the steps below to determine the cause:

1. Ensure the OBD Port is providing power.

*Test with an OBD-II Scanner or another device to ensure the port is providing a constant 12V Power.

2. Test with another Thinkware Power Cable.

3. Ensure to plug in the OBD-II Power Cable before turning on the ignition. Check if the Thinkware OBD has a Red LED when connected.

Echomaster OBD-II Power Cable

If the dash cam is no longer powering on when using the Echomaster OBD-II Power Cable, most likely this is caused by the IGN-3F Module.

Follow the steps below to determine the cause:

1. Ensure the OBD Port is providing power.

*Test with an OBD-II Scanner or another device to ensure the port is providing a constant 12V Power.

2. Test with another Thinkware Power Cable.

3. Ensure the IGN-3F Module is emitting a slow flash with the ignition off and is solid with the ignition on. 

*Ensure you have connected the IGN-3F Module to the 10-Pin Molex connector located on the HWK-TW01-HAR plug with the vehicle's ignition OFF.

iVolt Battery Pack

If the dash cam is no longer powering on when using the iVolt Battery Pack, most likely this is caused by no charge.

Follow the steps below to determine the cause:

1. Check that the iVolt Battery is not set to OFF. 

*If set to OFF the battery pack will not power on the dash cam.

2. Check that the iVolt Battery Pack has a charge.

LED LED STATUS MEANING
CHARGE Solid Red Charging
FULL Solid Green Full Charge

3. Check that the wiring between the Constant Power Cable and the Output Cable is securely fastened.

*If the ground has come loose, the dash cam will not power on.

4. Check that the Inline Fuses within the Hardwiring Cable have not been blown.

*If fuses are blown, replace them with 2AMP Fuses.

5. Check that the Input Cable is receiving power.

*For the 12V Car Charger version, test with another 12V Device such as a smartphone.

*For the Hardwired Version, please test that the ACC Fuse used for installation is receiving power with a Multimeter.

6. Test with another Thinkware Power Cable.
