[iOS] Maximize Compatibility Setting

What is the Maximize Compatibility Setting?

Maximize Compatibility is a setting on Apple iPhones that allows you to switch the Wi-Fi frequency of your Personal Hotspot.

You must ensure the frequency of your iPhone's Hotpot matches that of the Dash Cam.

*If the setting does not match, the Dash Cam will not connect via Hotspot.

How does the Maximize Compatibility work?

When the Maximize Compatibility setting is enabled on your iPhone, the hotspot broadcasts at a 2.4 gHz frequency.

Which iPhones use Maximize Compatibility?

The iPhone 12 and newer models, offers the Maximize Compatibility Setting.

Older iPhones

iPhone Model

WiFi Band

11 and Older

2.4 gHz only

12 and Newer

5.0 gHz default, 2.4 gHz option.

Turning the option off will presumably set the hotpot to 5ghz (default), which offers quicker data transmission and reduced delay at the expense of signal strength.

2.4ghz has a better range but slower speed, as 5ghz has a lower range but higher speed rate.
