The Wi-Fi Assist Setting automatically switches to cellular when you have a poor Wi-Fi connection.
How does the Wi-Fi Assist Setting work?
When the Wi-Fi Assist Setting is enabled, whenever the smartphone recognizes a weak Wi-Fi connection, it will automatically use your Cellular Data instead.
This can cause your phone to use more Cellular Data than expected.
Wi-Fi Assist and the Thinkware Wi-Fi Network
Since the Thinkware WiFi Network does not provide access to the internet, like your home Wi-Fi network, the iPhone will categorize this as having "No Internet Connection" or "Weak Security".
To prevent your iPhone from disconnecting from the Thinkware Wi-Fi you must disable the Wi-Fi Assist Setting.
How to Disable the Wi-Fi Assist Setting
Please follow the steps outlined below to disable the Wi-Fi Assist Setting on your iPhone.
1. Open the Settings App on your smartphone.
2. Select "Cellular"
3. Ensure Cellular Data has been enabled, and scroll to the bottom of the menu. You will then find Wi-Fi Assist.
Ensure this is disabled.
You have now successfully disabled the Wi-Fi Assist Setting. You should now be able to connect to the Dash Cam without being disconnected.
If you are still experiencing any issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your Apple Smartphone please reach out to our team at support@thinkware.com or 1-844-865-9273.
