My dash cam time is off by exactly 1 hour

This article helps you troubleshoot a THINKWARE dash cam timestamp that is off by exactly one hour.

Check Time Zone and Daylight-Saving Time settings, GPS reception, the mobile app, and firmware when timestamps are incorrect. Metallic windshield tint and underground parking can obstruct GPS reception.

Note: THINKWARE dash cams automatically sync the exact date and time from GPS satellite atomic clocks upon acquiring a signal. You do not need to manually set the calendar date on GPS-equipped models—only the Time Zone (UTC offset) and Daylight-Saving Time toggle must be configured.

If your recorded video timestamps display the correct date and minutes but are off by exactly 1 hour, follow the Daylight-Saving Time and time zone alignment steps below.

Already tried some steps? Jump to:

1.   Adjust Daylight Saving Time Setting in Mobile App

2.   Verify UTC Time Zone Offset for Your Region

3.   Perform a GPS Reset and Outdoor Signal Sync

Adjust Daylight Saving Time Setting in Mobile App

1. Connect your smartphone to the dash cam via the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app.

2. Go to [Dash Cam Settings] > [System Settings] > [Daylight Saving Time].

3. Set [Daylight Saving Time] to [Enabled] (ON) during spring/summer or [Disabled] (OFF) during autumn/winter.

North America DST schedule: Daylight Saving Time begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

4. Tap the back arrow in the top-left corner to save your changes.

Verify UTC Time Zone Offset for Your Region

1. Connect to the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK app > [Dash Cam Settings] > [System Settings] > [Time Zone].

2. Verify that the correct UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) offset is selected for your geographic location.

3. Tap the back arrow to save settings. Record a short test clip to confirm that the timestamp matches your local vehicle clock.

Perform a GPS Reset and Outdoor Signal Sync

Perform a GPS reset if the timestamp does not update after changing DST or the time zone.

1. In THINKWARE CLOUD or THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK, open [Dash Cam Info], select the GPS information arrow, and tap the [Reset] icon in the top-right corner.

2. Once the GPS status changes to "Connecting", allow up to 5 minutes outdoors under a clear sky for it to reconnect.

None of the above worked

If the date or GPS issue continues after resetting GPS, updating the app and firmware, checking time settings, testing outdoors, and checking antenna connections, contact THINKWARE support.
